My family and I have been watching a lot of the show Criminal Minds lately. We DVR it on every channel that the show appears. We just love it.
On the show there is a group of behavior analysis profilers who watch and study the behavior of previous criminals in order to better understand today's crime committing persons in hopes to be one step ahead of their game. Leaders need to do the same.
Leaders need to profile and study the behavior of their target audience and those who follow them.
Target audience:
Most companies and organizations already do this by studying those who purchase their products. Cosmetologists study make up consumers to find out about their make up routine and needs. Software companies study their consumers biggest challenges and needs as well. The church can also profile the behavior of its congregation and those they are trying to attract.
Right now social networking is popular among younger crowds, so if your target audience is younger than 40 maybe you should look into technology and social networking as a way to reach your demographic. One church in particular posts questions daily on a social networking site about the message that week. You would be amazed at home many people participate in the online discussion on that networking site.
Followers:
Leaders also need to profile their followers. In order to best lead them, they need to understand their personality, what makes them tick, their goals, their passions, and their love language. Not only will this help communication between the leader and the follower, because now the leader can accurately speak their follower's language, but this can also show the leader how to best applaud their follower when they have done something right, and correct them when they have done something wrong.
How?
So how do leaders become better behavioral profilers? Studying. Personality studies, love language studies, focus groups, and one on one interviews can help better understand those leaders are trying to reach. Whether its their target audience of the followers they are leading, they need to have the edge to be able to stand out in today's society.

Its colder at night now, and the day time temperature is inconstant during the day. Hot one day, cold and rainy the next, all just apart of fall. One of the best fall drinks... Pumpkin Chi Tea Latte!!!! Enjoy!!!

Fall has arrived... and social networking is on the climb!!!
Today's cup of of coffee in honor of fall.... Pumpkin Spice Latte!!!
Throughout my recent personal studies of leadership this week I have noticed how internet sites are now shifting from an information source to a source of relationship and social networking.
The fame of Facebook and Twitter only further confirm this finding. As I looked at different websites this week, I found that lots of them now had connections to Facebook, Twitter, or even a personal blog. My doctor's office is on several of these relationship social networking sites... a doctor's office.
People want to feel connected to the information. They no longer want to know just the times of an event that is being held, church service, concert, they want to feel connected to those presenting. Many pastors, churches, public speakers, musicians, and even sports players have their own , facebook and twitter accounts.
I have to admit that I follow several NFL football players on Twitter... I know what some of them ate for breakfast. I also follow a few of my favorite tv shows and news stations. On the Ellen show it's Cat week...
So what is it about this social networking blogging, facebook, twitter that has people so enticed?? It makes them feel connected. Because I know about what one of my NFL players ate for breakfast, how he left his apple computer cord in another city and it cost him $84 dollars to replace... I feel like I am apart of his life almost. I can relate to him on a different level then just seeing him play on the television screen once a week.
Churches need to gear it up too... The people in the congregation don't just want to hear a speaker on the weekend once a week... really they want to feel connected to them... they want to know that they tripped going down the stairs today, that they struggle and enjoy some of the same things that they enjoy...
One website I looked at in my research this week... their website home page is a blog. Imagine how often people go back to look at their website, or subscribe to their website just to see the new blog. The blog wasn't just full of announcements, but it was personal. There were stories, personal and community challenges, books, and thoughts.
For some people, due to today's day and age, for them getting connected might be through reading Blogs, Twitters, Facebook's of their organization. The love of football for them, might start by getting a love for the players. Engaging at Church or a non-profit, might start by reading a blog that causes them to want to communicate.
Web Sites and pages today, are not just about the information. Date, time, mission, vision, and values, about us, contact us, who we are. No a lot of websites today are engaging their readers in a connection through social networking sites.
Look even at the bottom of this post there are links to share this post on email, facebook, twitter, and the buzz.

The order of values... and a latte
~Grande Hot White Chocolate Latte~
I have never really been good at blogs, but I have ideas, concepts, and fun stuff that I would love to write down. So here it goes....
Today I got my first hot latte of the season, and after a summer break from a lot of caffeinated beverages, it was lovely to get my first hot drink in the unofficial start of fall. After my latte fix, I headed to a place I have visited a lot in the past year... the doctors. More tests. Hoping September is the first of many months without antibiotics, we shall see.
Leadership is my passion. Recently I looked at how immoral decisions are made, not because they chose to do the wrong thing, but rather they valued something else more. Rather they valued loyalty over honesty, causing them to lie in order to save an important relationship, or business relationship such as a boss and follower.
Sometimes you just need a latte....
